AAA South Jersey Driving School
AAA has long been a leader in the automotive world by providing members with roadside assistance, advocating safer roads in legislation, and actively promoting teen driver safety through our Keys2Drive program. Now, AAA South Jersey provides new drivers behind-the-wheel driving lessons.
The mission of AAA South Jersey Driving School is to educate our students in developing their skills driving an automobile while instilling and practicing safe and defensive driving methods in a positive, respectful, and courteous environment.
AAA South Jersey Driving School will use standards set forth by the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to ensure students will gain an understanding of driving laws and skills to practice safe driving habits and to successfully navigate and share the roads of New Jersey and beyond.
Our driving lessons are usually conducted in two-hour or three-hour blocks. Each lesson is individual and based on the needs of the student. All students will begin with a tutorial of the vehicle they will use. Lessons always begin in a parking lot setting and all students are gradually introduced to the road to build confidence and prepare for more challenging roads. These lessons will also include all necessary road test skills, including parallel parking.
The student will be accompanied by the instructor to a local NJ MVC to validate their permit and schedule their road test. Once the lessons are finished the student will receive AAA Basic Membership with a temporary card, a certificate of completion issued by AAA South Jersey, and a map of New Jersey.
Road Test Service
AAA South Jersey Driving School allows for use of its vehicles for Road Tests in NJ. This includes a two hour refresher to prepare for the Road Test. This time is invaluable to the student in that it will acclimate them with the car they will use for their test as well as to practice the road test skills, such as parallel parking, reverse driving, and K-Turns. *Please contact us well in advance prior to your scheduled driving test.
Refresher courses are also available. Whether you are a student who needs additional practice, a licensed driver that would like to perfect a specific driving skill like parallel parking, or to overcome a fear such as highway driving we can assist in developing your driving abilities. These lessons will be tailored to your needs on an hourly basis.
All 16 year old students in the State of New Jersey who want to learn to drive must be registered with a State licensed and insured driving school. They must complete a six-hour behind-the-wheel driving course of instruction in order to receive their permit to drive. Although the permit cannot be purchased before the actual day of their 16th birthday, we can complete the paperwork and the scheduling may be arranged before the students 16th birthday.
We need the following documents in order to purchase your permit:
1. A primary identification document (one of the following):
a) An original birth certificate – (with the raised Seal);
b) A United States passport;
c) An alien identification card (Green Card) or;
d) If adopted, Birth Certificate with original adoption papers.
2. Your Social Security Card number (needed for the NJ Learners Permit Application)
3. Written Test Waiver (blue card with passing written test grade)
4. Complete NJ Learners Permit Application
a) Must be signed by student and parent/guardian
If you are 16 and have not taken the NJ written test or failed the test in school, AAA South Jersey Driving School can arrange for a Driving Instructor to accompany you to a NJ MVC testing facility to take the test.
