Choosing the Right Cabin for You!

AAA

You have the cruise line selected, the destination chosen, the time of year picked out, and what port you are departing from all set. Except, you are missing one thing to make your vacation complete—the type of cabin. Trying to choose the type of cabin can be a daunting task, especially for those new to being on a cruise. So for those trying to decide between an inside cabin and an ocean-view, or a veranda and a suite, this handy guide to cruise cabins will give you a quick rundown of each to help you decide!

Inside Cabins:
Inside cabins are usually between 120 – 180sqft, being the smallest and most affordable cabin size aboard a cruise ship. But just because they are small, doesn’t mean you will be missing out; you can still expect to find all the essentials one could need on a cruise such as a private shower, TV, mini fridge, and a queen size bed to enjoy your ocean bound adventure.

Good for price-conscious travelers or those who don’t plan to spend too much time in their room.

Ocean-view Cabins:

Ocean-view cabins are typically very similar in size to an inside cabin (some are slightly larger), with the main difference being that you are on the outside of the ship with a view of the ocean. Additionally, some cruise lines offer more amenities for some of the ships on-board activities at this tier. Good for those who want a little something extra and don’t plan on being in their room a lot.

Balcony or Veranda Cabins:

Balcony or Veranda cabins are larger than an inside or ocean-view cabin, featuring a sitting area for a small couch or chairs. Of course, the biggest draw of a balcony cabin is the sliding glass doors that will take you to your very own slice of the gorgeous views outside.

Good for couples who want a personal retreat away from everything else and a little extra space.

Suites:

Suites come in all shapes and sizes depending on the cruise ship itself, with some having upwards of 8 different varieties of suites, making it important that you research the layout before you book. The main difference between suites and other cabins is that the bedroom is separate from the common area, be it by another room, curtain, or level.

Good for those who intend to spend most of their cruise time in their cabin or are looking for a more luxurious experience overall.
