October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and AAA South Jersey is joining in the fight. For each new membership purchased using a special “GoPink” promotional code during the months of September and October, AAA South Jersey will donate a portion of that cost to help in the battle against breast cancer.

The money will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 300 communities to finish the fight. The AAA promotion will run from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31. This marks the first time that AAA South Jersey has initiated a membership drive linked to a charity. AAA South Jersey membership is available to residents of Camden, Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland counties. AAA offers numerous membership options, including student and corporate memberships.

“We are thrilled to develop this unique promotion, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society,” said Carol Scott, president and CEO of AAA South Jersey. “Cancer is a disease that has touched numerous families throughout the world, and we are excited to offer this opportunity for people to experience the numerous benefits of AAA membership, while at the same time contributing to this very worthwhile charity that is making strides to eliminate the disease.”

In addition to the membership campaign, AAA South Jersey will sponsor a team of employees, friends and family members in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk, on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ. For more information about your local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, go to www.MakingStridesWalk.org/PennsaukenNJ. Additionally, AAASJ employees will be encouraged to wear specially designed breast cancer awareness shirts during September and October.

According to the American Cancer Society Cancer Facts & Figures 2015, an estimated 231,840 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and an estimated 40,290 will die from the disease this year. Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women (excluding skin cancer) and second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women.
