Oversharing on Facebook and other social media can put you at risk of identity theft. Here are some tips to protect yourself—and how AAA can help.

Create ironclad passwords.

Make sure they aren’t commonly used—or easy to guess from what you share on social media, such as the name of your pet or favorite hobby.

Be careful with quizzes.

Social media tests and games are plenty fun. But they could be part of a scam, so shut them down if they ask for too much personal information.
 

Keep vacations on the down low.

Posting about your fun trip while traveling can tip off burglars who nab not only your valuables, but papers with personal information they use to steal your identity.
